It was late last year when the exciting news came out that Amarillo was getting a Bass Pro Shop. Since then it has been pretty quiet. We discuss this a lot here at work. What is going on?

It all started when one of our employees made her yearly visit to the Bass Pro in Lubbock. They thanked her for being a rewards member and she told them she travels from Amarillo every year to make this stop.

That is when this manager gave the great news about Amarillo finally getting a location. The area that it would move into made perfect sense. The former Gander Mountain and Camping World location on Interstate 40.

It is the perfect size for a Bass Pro to start construction. The problem is that there hasn't been any construction on the site yet. We also don't know what the timeline is for them to open. Unfortunately, we have also experienced plans changing. So we wanted to know.

Is Bass Pro Shops Still Coming to Amarillo?

We reached out to them to find out the answer. Sometimes you get horrible information when you ask the question. We had been emailing Home Goods when the rumor first came out and each time we got the same answer. Even once the banners started going up we got the same answer:

Thank You for reaching back out!  At this time, HomeGoods has not announced a new store in Amarillo, Texas.

So we know many big businesses coming to our city like to keep the secret. They like to be the ones to break their news. So we wanted to see what the folks at Bass Pro Shop would say when asked.

Thank you for waiting. Unfortunately, I am not yet showing any specific dates as to when it will be open. However, what we do have available is information about the location in Odessa, Texas, where it is expected to open in the fall this year.

It was not a no we are not getting a location. They just don't have any specific dates. This is great news for Amarillo.
