Veterans Day Freebies Around Amarillo & The Panhandle
It's one of those days on the calendar that I don't want to say tends to get overshadowed by most people, but it definitely doesn't get talked about enough or get enough recognition I feel like.
I'm talking about Veteran's Day.
In my mind, if it weren't for these individuals who sacrificed for us, many with their lives, we wouldn't have the freedoms we have. We could be in some really bad situations in this country like we see across the world.
I've got several good friends who served, and some who are currently still serving, and we should be giving them all the flowers. Thankfully, many businesses around Amarillo and the country feel the same way.
If you're a vet, whether retired or currently serving, there are a TON of freebies out there for you on Saturday, and I want to see you take advantage of as many of them as you can. You earned them, you deserve them. Here are just some of the places around Amarillo that are making sure you're taken care of on YOUR day.
Just make sure you have something proving you've served, such as your military ID, VA card, or discharge papers.
BUBBA'S 33
One of Amarillo's favorites is coming through in a big way. All vets are being offered a free lunch at Bubba's between the hours of 10 am and 4 pm. They have curated a special menu for you to choose from, and the items on there to choose from are some of the best ones they have to offer.
Bubba's Bacon Burger, Bacon Mac-n-cheese, and any 12" pizza are just a few of the offerings on the menu. You'll also get your choice of any Coca-Cola product they serve, tea, or coffee to go with it.
Can't make it in for lunch on Saturday? Stop in as they'll give you a raincheck on that free meal that you can use any time before May 30, 2024.
BEEF O'BRADY'S
Another one of those Amarillo faves that has a tendency to get overshadowed at times, Beef O'Brady's is hooking up all veterans with a free meal up to $12. No special menu or anything like that here. Just find anything on the menu under $12 and it's yours on the house.
I recommend the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich or indulge in a tasty Reuben.
BUFFALO WILD WINGS
The atmosphere of BWW alone is worth going in. All the TVs with sports on, and with it being Saturday, you can take in as much college football as your heart can desire.
While you watch all the game action, vets will get to chow down on 10 boneless wings, any flavor you want, and some fries for free. I'm pretty jealous of this one for sure, but I didn't serve so I shouldn't get it! However, you may see me in there with you, and I'll be thanking each one of you who comes in if I see you.
CIRCLE K
Nothing too crazy on this one, but hey, they want our vets starting the day off right so they're offering up a free cup of coffee for all our vets. You will need to download the Circle K app if you don't have it though, as the offer can only be found inside there.
GOLDEN CORRAL
So this one isn't actually happening ON Veteran's Day, but on November 13th, Golden Corral will be hosting a military appreciation night where they'll be serving a free dinner buffet to all active duty military and veterans. It'll begin at 5 pm and last until they close for the evening.
IHOP
Looking for a breakfast deal to get your day started? Then IHOP is your destination. While this deal will run nearly all day, from 7 am to 7 pm, all vets and military members can indulge in some Red, White, & Blueberry Pancakes or a free Pancake Combo.
SCOOTER'S
While Circle K is offering up a free cup of coffee, Scooter's seems to be doing them one better. With a valid military ID, you can choose ANY handcrafted drink of any size off their menu, and it's on them. So if a regular cup of joe isn't your thing, Scooter's is your spot.
TWIN PEAKS
Eats. Drinks. Scenic Views. That's the Twin Peaks slogan, so if you're looking for all three of those things in one place, you'll want to stop in. Twin Peaks is offering up a free lunch for all military personnel, and they're upping the ante a bit.
Any customer donating to the Tunnel To Towers charity will receive a $5 gift card to use on your next visit.
GREAT CLIPS
Ok so this one doesn't have anything to do with food or drink, but if you've been delaying that haircut, this is the time for you to get it knocked out. Great Clips is hooking up all our military members with a free cut to make sure they look their best.
If you don't have time to stick around for a haircut on Saturday, no worries, drop in and they'll give you a card for a free haircut in the future.
Also, any customer who comes in on Saturday to get a haircut will be given a chance to pay it forward to a military member. They'll give you a free haircut card for you to hand out to a military member that can be used between Nov. 12 and Dec. 1.
