Past Due On Your Atmos Bill Amarillo? Here’s How To Get Help.
In tough economic times, we all find ourselves trying to cut corners or float different things. Even though Amarillo doesn't seem to have been AS hard as a lot of other places in Texas and the country, we still have many that are struggling to make ends meet.
The first thing we do is start cutting out extra expenses. Things like going out to eat, driving around town a bit less to save on gas, and taking away some of the more expensive meals we like to make at home. Meat is rising in cost, so we cut things like that out.
Unfortunately, sometimes even that isn't enough to kill the full sting of it and we have to start juggling things. We decide we can let this ONE bill slide past this month and we'll make it up next month.
Seems like a good idea, until you go to pay that bill to catch up but have to skip a different bill in order to do it. This becomes a vicious cycle, and before you know it, you end up with that one bill that gets out of control.
Disconnect notices start coming and you try working out a payment plan. Sometimes you get it, sometimes you don't. The United Way of Amarillo & Canyon understand that, and now they're trying to help you out with one of them.
They're holding a "Utility Blitz" event where they're aiming to help those with past-due, or even disconnected services, through Atmos Energy.
On October 8th, they'll be in two different places to try and help pay off those bills so you can catch up and start fresh.
They'll start at Heal The City, 609 S Caroline St., from 9 am to 11 am. After that, they'll shift over to Acts Community Center, 816 S Van Buren St., from 1 pm to 3 pm.
If you are someone who is going to attend and seek help in paying those bills, there are a couple of things you need to know and bring. Be sure to bring a copy of your ID, as well as your most recent Atmos Energy bill.
Once you've arrived with those items, you'll need to fill out an application that will ask you questions about some general demographics stuff to see if you qualify to be helped.
