As if Amarillo didn't already have enough planned construction going on around the city, yesterday seemingly brought a bunch of random roadwork that we didn't hear anything about. Well, at least I didn't hear anything about it.

The wild part about it is that it's not like they were working on some areas that were low traffic. Oh no, we're talking about major roads that most definitely caused some people to be late to work and school yesterday.

The first one was Coulter. Now, they've been doing some work on it for quite some time from Arden to Hillside, but it never really slowed things down or overly impacted traffic. There have been cones and all the signs on roadwork there, so we kind of expected it to be like that for awhile.

Yesterday brought a whole new challenge though, and it really did come out of nowhere. Coulter looks like a dirt road all of a sudden at Arden, and it trickles all the way down to Hillside.

Great, not a problem, except for the fact that at times they had traffic down to just one lane period. My wife was trying to get the kids to school, and Coulter is a necessary road for her to take to get them there. They were almost late for school, and no word on whether or not she was late getting to work.

However, the fun doesn't stop there. How about Western and 34th? Yesterday afternoon they had taken that down to just a single lane as well. Did these construction crews wake up and basically have a little fun with everyone?

We don't find it funny, I can assure you that. No word on how long either project is going to take, but be prepared for a long stretch. You know how long roadwork in Amarillo seems to take.

Don't hesitate to sound off if we missed any. We're happy to add more Amarillo collision hotspots to this list of shame.
