Record High Temperatures Expected For Much Of Texas
We haven't necessarily felt a big heat wave come through Amarillo yet, but it's coming. Temperatures are supposed to be in the upper 80s and low 90s for most of the week.
However, a lot of parts of Texas have been experiencing a massive heat wave early in the season, and that's not a good sign of things to come.

High Temps In Texas
This week, several cities in Texas are set to have temperatures over 100 degrees, and it's very early in the season to be seeing temps that high.
On Wednesday, Austin is expected to hit 107 degrees, which would make it the hottest temperature ever recorded in the month of May. San Antonio is looking at three days in a row of temps around 103, while Del Rio could touch 110 degrees, which would tie it for the 12th hottest day on record.
Is Summer In Texas Going To Be Above Average
Right now, weather experts are saying this is a preview of things to come for the summer. They are expecting Texas and other states to be abnormally hot this summer.
In fact, one office with the National Weather Service is calling this early heat wave “potentially historic.”
What Is Causing The Extreme Heat
A lot of it is being blamed on human-caused climate change. According to this Climate Central graphic, the fossil fuel pollution made reaching this temperature predicted five times more likely than without it.
While fossil fuel pollution is unavoidable since so much runs on it, it's possible for us to be able to cut back on its usage and slow down climate change.
