Amarillo Is Home To The Top Ranked Golf Course In Texas
With spring here and summer coming, Amarillo golfers have begun to hit the links in droves.
See, we golfers don't wait around for perfect weather. We like to get out there if it's going to be sunny and not windy. That's not the only reason we hit the courses here, though.
We have some of the nicest courses in Texas here in Amarillo, and that's something we don't take for granted. Golf courses require a ton of maintenance, and beyond that, course layout is extremely important.
The final piece of that puzzle is affordability. Golf is already expensive with the equipment needed to play, so we don't want to consistently pay $100+ per round.
Amarillo Has The Top Ranked Course In Texas
Well, the city has made sure that they check all three boxes with their courses, and it's paid off as Amarillo can proudly call itself home to the best golf course in Texas.
Ross Rogers Golf Course has two separate courses, 36 beautiful holes of golf, and the Mustang Course has officially been ranked #1. This isn't a first for the course. In fact, it's the FIFTH time it's received a number one ranking since 2014.

What Makes It So Good
Let's start with the price. Greens fees range from $30-33 if you want to walk the course, which is a phenomenal price. Normally, you'd be playing on a very run-down course at that price.
The layout of the course is solid, the scenery is beautiful, and the grass is always well taken care of. It can be challenging, yet beatable, and that's anything a golfer can ask for.
The Wildhorse Course
I can't leave out the other course found as Ross Rogers, the Wildhorse Course. Why is that? Because it checked in at number four on the best courses in Texas list.
It's another course that has been ranked number one before, in 2007 and 2010, and it consistently ranks inside the top 10 in Texas. It's another beautiful layout, and maybe not AS challenging as the Mustang course. Wildhorse is about 200 yards shorter than the Mustang Course.
What Other Amarillo Courses Landed Inside The Top 25
Two more city courses landed inside the top 25 in Texas. Comanche Trail/Tomahawk placed number 15 on the list. It's one of my favorites to play a long, challenging course that is meticulously maintained.
At number 24 on the list is the other Comanche Trail course, Arrowhead. Nearly 300 yards shorter than its companion, it's tailored a bit more for control artists rather than long bombers.
