Ok, we see plenty of wild police stories here in Amarillo, but this one has to be one of the better ones in recent memory. It was supposed to be just a normal traffic stop, but the person inside the vehicle knew nothing would be normal about this stop.

Had he actually pulled over, he knew he was headed to jail for parole violation...so he decided to run, and attempt to run he did.

Where Did The Fun Begin

It all started around I-40 and Washington, where police flipped their lights on and attempted to pull over a car being driven by someone with an active parole violation warrant. The driver decided to ignore the lights and continue driving.

The car exited the highway at Ross St., and that was when things got wild.

How Far Did The Suspect Get

As the vehicle exited, it hit the median there, and it damaged his left tire. No matter, they continued their journey attempting to flee the police. Unfortunately, they didn't get very far.

After driving through a neighborhood, the left tire soon gave out, and the car was driving on the rim. The driver attempted to keep going, but soon realized it had rendered the car useless, and the suspect gave up.

What Was The Suspect Ultimately Charged With

The suspect, Daniel Salinas, was arrested at the scene and charged with a whole lot more than just the parole violation warrant he was being stopped for initially.

The charges were aggravated assault on a public servant, possession of a controlled substance, and evading arrest/detention with a vehicle. The parole violation he was running from? Assault on a peace officer. He was taken to Potter County Detention Center, where he was booked on those charges.
