I'm not entirely sure if this would be considered a good or bad omen for this graduating class of 2023.

A local Catholic high school in Amarillo had an electrifying experience last night when a bolt of lightning struck their main building. In a surprising twist of events, the old man upstairs decided to intervene in the academic affairs of this devout institution.

The lightning strike occurred between 8:30 and 8:45 p.m. According to reports from faculty inside the building, the lightning violently shook the building and set off the fire alarm. Thankfully nobody was hurt and the Amarillo Fire Department swiftly responded and conducted a thorough search of the building. To everyone's relief, there was no fire potential. However, the lightning managed to take out the school's server.

Classes at Holy Cross Catholic Academy have been canceled for the day, including virtual classes, meaning that students can quite literally thank God that they don't have to go to school today.

School officials are set to return to the campus to assess the full extent of the damage. I can only imagine their faces as they walk through the halls, witnessing the aftermath of divine electrical intervention. Let's hope they have an appreciation for the irony of this incident.

Thankfully this won't affect the school's Stang Fest which will be held this Sunday, which will be raising money for the disabled community in Amarillo.

While this may be an inconvenience for the school, it's safe to say that Holy Cross Catholic Academy has now joined the ranks of other legendary establishments that have been struck by lightning in Amarillo.
