A Tragedy In Texas: Smoke Billowed in the Sky as Buc-ee’s Burned
Buc-ee's has become a must-visit in Texas. It was such a fun place to stop that it has expanded beyond the Texas borders and into other states. Of course, this Texas staple had to be shared with others because it is an experience.
The first Buc-ee's was founded in Clute, Texas, but the first travel center was built in Luling, Texas in 2003. If you are familiar with the area Luling is about an hour northeast of San Antonio and an hour south from Austin. This was the area that people flocked to, to visit Buc-ee's.
The original Buc-ee's caught on fire on July 2, 2024.
It is shocking, but don't worry, it was the old Buc-ee's, they were in the process of tearing it down when it caught fire.
However, when you see a picture like this you tend to freak out if you're not paying attention. It's a Buc-ee's on fire. Buc-ee's. On. Fire.
When a Buc-ee's lover sees smoke and a Buc-ee's sign their first response is
Noooooooo! Not my Buc-ee's.
The Buc-ee's fandom is real.
Although the original location was being torn down, it still hurts to see the smoke and the damage to what was once the center of so many memories.
The new Luling, Texas Buc-ee's is the largest Buc-ee's ever built. The location opened on June 10, 2024, at 10070 I-10.
The original location brought so many people happiness and joy. The original location will be completely gone soon and that is sad. At least the memories will remain.
Amarillo, Texas is currently awaiting its Buc-ee's it will be the first in the Texas Panhandle.
The residents are excited to finally have one in town and not have to drive to DFW, Central Texas, or South Texas to visit this happy little beaver. It's scheduled to open in February 2025 but might open sooner.
