Being a parent is hard. The day to day stuff is tough enough. Then it comes time for a few days off of school and you may be at a loss of what to do with the kids.

Have you been shopping for flowers and trees? I mean we are getting closer to the time you think about the outside. The weather will start to get better. So you want a great yard.

You know when the school calendar comes out both kids and parents alike want to check it out. The kids are excited to check on which days they get out of school. You parents check because you have to decide on those off days what to do with them.

Here we are five days into the New Year and a lot of us are trying to stick to our New Years Resolutions. Whether you are looking to save money, get out of debt or be a little healthier now is the time to start.

One of the biggest struggles I had when my daughter was growing up was birthday parties. You know the struggle. Right? Figuring out where you can have a party. A fun activity as well and without totally breaking the bank.

You don't sit there and dream of all the holiday cooking and then dream of healthy options, do you? I mean we just know there will be nothing that has any redeeming qualities when it comes to healthy options on our tables.

There is something magical about the last couple months of the year. All the excitement that we know are heading our way here in Amarillo.

Looking at the calendar yes, it is true. Summer is officially over. With the start of fall it doesn't mean all the fun outside activities have to end. In fact I think they have only just begun. There is just less to worry about.

Looking at the calendar we have just under a month left of summer. In the summer we have so many fun outdoor activities to take advantage of. It is easier to stay fit because we are moving around a lot more.

There are just some weeks that you just need to vent. You need to run around. You need to get those frustrations out. Maybe that was this week with getting the kiddos back to school.

An important lesson in life that I learned was how to fish. It taught me a few things. You know the important things in life like how to provide food when needed. How to be patient. I mean it does take awhile. Knowing how to hook a worm and even clean a fish is important too.

Growing up I lived and breathed baseball. That was and still my sport. My first dream was to be the first woman in Major League Baseball. There is still time? Right? I grew up in Chicago right down from Comiskey Park, so baseball was everything.
