In a flurry of legal motions, the previously halted February 8th execution date for John Lezell Balentine resumed. Balentine was convicted in the 1998 slaying of three teenagers in Amarillo.
I am not yet entirely convinced that an innocent man was murdered by the state, or that law enforcement got the right guy via dumb luck or good detective work.
The Texas court of Criminal Appeals has ruled to postpone another execution, this time for 55-year-old Randall Wayne Mays who was set to be put to death on Wednesday.
