Books are an important part of life. They open the doors to all sorts of different worlds and help us learn, escape and change ourselves.

One of our favorite times of the day is when we let my little granddaughter, Laila, make her way over to the bookshelf and pick out a book to read. She loves to read and we know how valuable that time is for her.

One of the best times I remember with my daughter was reading to her as she was growing up. Yes, there were some books that she just made sure I read over and over to her. Yes, at the time I was like "Not Again." Those, though are the books and the memories I cherish the most.

Over the weekend seems like a great time to accomplish some tasks at your house. I bet your kids room could use a little tidying up. Do you ever look at their bookshelf and just know you need to get rid of some of them?

Oh how I loved reading when I was a child. You would always find me in my room reading a good book. As I got into my teenage years that didn't change. I loved taking my weekly trip to the Canyon Library to pick out my next stack of books.
