While you're sitting around the Thanksgiving dinner table with your family next week, we're not sure whether or not you'll want to thank MGM for this bit of news: the studio is remaking 'Road House,' the 80s classic starring Patrick Swayze and Kelly Lynch, with director Rob Cohen -- a name you'll recognize as the director of the first 'Fast and Furious' movie, as well as the Vin Diesel action vehicle 'xXx.' It could be worse?
Seems there is no moratorium on sequels as, just in time for the holidays, comes news that the Jimmy Stewart classic 'It's a Wonderful Life' is getting a sequel. Nope, not a remake, but a sequel, since apparently we didn't get the full story the first time around. The new film, titled 'It's a Wonderful Life: The Rest of the Story' (original!) will follow the grandson of Stewart's character.
James Wan's 'The Conjuring' was the surprise hit of the summer, skyrocketing at the box office to become one of the most profitable horror films of all time. While a sequel is already in the works, Warner Bros. and New Line are also plotting a spin-off film -- and that film will star none other than Annabelle, the creepy, possessed doll based on a real doll that terrorized human lives.
Earlier today, 'Man of Steel' director Zack Snyder and star Amy Adams sat down with Kevin Smith at a special fan event for the upcoming Blu-ray release, with Henry Cavill telecasting in from London -- but the making of that film wasn't all they discussed. Snyder dropped a few hints about his sequel, working under the tentative title 'Batman vs. Superman,' which, obviously features the caped crusader going up against the Man of Steel himself.
There's been a lot of speculation over whether J.J. Abrams and Disney could reach an agreement over the release date of 'Star Wars: Episode 7,' with Abrams recently scrapping Michael Arndt's script to rework the story and characters. But now we have official confirmation that the latest entry in the 'Star Wars' franchise will indeed be released on December 18, 2015, putting it right up against Duncan Jones' 'Warcraft.'
The final trailer for 'The Hunger Games: Catching Fire' debuted tonight during the fourth game of the MLB World Series, and it's pretty awesome. In the upcoming sequel, as Donald Sutherland's President Snow teases in voice over, Katniss will go from playing mere games to full-out war when she and Peeta are targeted to compete in a new and deadly tournament.
Marcia Wallace, whom many know best as the voice of Mrs. Edna Krabappel on the long-running Fox animated series 'The Simpsons,' has passed away at the age of 70. Wallace, who was also starred on the classic sitcom 'The Bob Newhart Show,' died just one week before her 71st birthday due to complications from breast cancer.
Lou Scheimer, the founder of animation studio Filmation and the producer of Saturday morning cartoon classics such as 'Fat Albert,' 'He-Man,' and 'Superman,' has passed away at the age of 84. Scheimer leaves behind a legacy of exciting Saturday morning entertainment for children that's been passed on and revitalized from generation to generation.
Zack Snyder did some filming on Saturday night in L.A. for 'Batman vs. Superman,' which is what Warner Bros. themselves referred to as the title. The filming took place at a football game, set up at Weingart Stadium, which serves as the set of the Gotham City University home stadium. The Gotham City team, in black and gold, was playing against the Metropolis State University team, in red and white. If we've learned anything from 'The Dark Knight Rises,' no football game is safe as long as Batman is around.
Everyone remembers the scene in 'Big' when Tom Hanks plays "Chopsticks" on the novelty piano with just his feet. Hanks recently appeared on 'The Jonathan Ross Show' to relive the magic with the host, but then we got a special surprise: Sandra Bullock, who was on hand to promote 'Gravity,' joined in the fun. And even more impressive: Bullock can play "Chopsticks" in high heels!
Bad news, '50 Shades of Grey' fans: Charlie Hunnam has cracked the whip and dropped out of playing Christian Grey in the upcoming big screen adaptation of the beloved softcore novel. We're not sure how you'll break this news to your mothers, but our thoughts are with you in this difficult time.
