A Car That Runs on Ketchup? Yup, It Could Happen [VIDEO]
Well, here’s a business merger you probably never saw coming.
Ford and Heinz have announced they’re joining forces to look into making car parts from tomato byproducts that remain from ketchup production in what could be the greatest culinary innovation since the spork and the greatest automotive one since the self-driving car.
Heinz reportedly goes through two million tons of tomatoes annually, which results in a lot of wasted seeds, stems and peels. Those leftovers could now head to Ford and be changed to help create new parts, including potentially cup holders.
Ford has gone down this road before – it has created seat backs, head restraints and door panel inserts from plastic furnished by Coke.
The moral of the story? If you’re hungry while driving, just stop at a drive-thru, order a burger and some fries and rip out some interior to complete your combo meal.
