Your already making millions playing in the NFL for a team who might make it to the playoffs, but then you all of a sudden decide you want to become a drug kingpin? My question to Sam Hurd is..... WHY?

The former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver was traded to the Chicago Bears in July as a free agent acquisition making 4.15 million on a 3-year contract. Hurd is the teams special teams captain and has recorded 109 yards on eight catches this season.

Hurd set up a meeting with two guys he thought were drug dealers at a high end restaurant in Rosemont, Chicago they turned out to be undercover officers. He told the officers he would like to purchase 5 to 10 kilograms of cola and 1,000 pounds of drugs a week.

After the meeting one of the informants handed Hurd a bag of what was thought to be cocaine and Hurd left the restaurant. As soon as Hurd reached his car in the parking lot he was arrested immediately.

Hurd has had his hearing for bond but was issued to stay one more day behind bars while his attorneys find out his bond agreements. If  charged he could face up to 40 years in prison on federal drug conspiracy charges, possibly ending his career with the Chicago Bears and the National Football League.
