Rodney Atkins Reunites With Birth Mother [VIDEO]

Rodney Atkins was adopted after being born, he reunited with his birth mother nearly 40 years later.

Rodney Atkins was born in 1969 in Knoxville, Tennessee. Because his mother had him at such a young age she was forced to put Atkins up for adoption.

For months after being born Atkins was going through some health problems which led his first foster parents to put him back up for adoption. The Atkins family took him in anyways and raised the Country superstar.

In 2008 Atkins was reunited with his birth mother for the first time Nashville, Tennessee. Atkins told the AssociatedPress: "It hit me at that moment, walking in that room, getting to know her," ATKINS said. "She's a wonderful, beautiful lady. I realized that the reason I needed to do that did not have anything to do with my parents. I'm glad I did that really, really, really for her. She's been carrying that around, wondering what happened, and I could tell it was such a relief."
