Driver of Yellow Mustang in Fatal Wreck on 34th & Osage Has Been Identified

On Friday, April 24th a street drag race on 34th & Osage turned fatal when a vehicle rolled over killing one and sending another to the hospital with life threatening injuries.

A Tahoe driven driving East bound on 34th St. near Osage St. was racing a yellow Mustang and a gray quad cab full size pickup. The Tahoe hit the curb and rolled several times, the other two vehicles fled the scene.

James Sutton, 24 of Amarillo was the driver of the Tahoe and was pronounced dead on the scene by the APD, the passenger Christy Breece remains in the hospital with life threatening injuries.

Since the accident the APD has found the yellow Mustang and identified the driver, although investigators have not released the suspects name due to the ongoing investigation. Investigators are still searching for the gray quad cab, full size pickup and the driver.
