One of the great things about Amarillo is how many choices we have when it comes to eating out. Amarillo has more restaurants than it has churches and convenience stores (this may or may not be true, it just sounds good).

Robinson's Bar-B-Q was located at 5920 Hillside for years and this past year they moved over to the Time Out restaurant inside Amarillo Netplex.  When this change happened it left their original building empty.

Get ready for some more great flavor to take over the Amarillo restaurant scene.  This new restaurant is going into a familiar location.

Now that Robinson's has moved out, a new place is moving in.  This new restaurant will be run by a husband and wife team.  What's cool about the owners is that they are both US Veteran's running a business they love.

According to owner and Certified Pitmaster John Blanda, the restaurant itself is going to be very patriotic.

My wife and I are both veterans. We honor all first responders and the military..

The restaurant will serve up traditional BBQ plates and sides.

But hold onto your horses, if you love meatloaf then don't miss Meatloaf Mondays where Nine Line serves up their special smoked meatloaf.

Nine Line BBQ will differ from its predecessors.  Nine Line will have a waitstaff that will come to your table, take your order, and then bring your food to you.  You won't have to walk to the counter and place your order and wait for the number to be called.

Oh, and the good news, the building will now be cool.  You won't have to worry about being hot in the summer and cold in the winter.  That little window unit tried so hard but failed on so many occasions.  The building now has a new HVAC unit.

John Blanda has been competing in BBQ competitions and catering BBQ for a while now, it just seemed like the next step.

I decided to open a restaurant because my catering and competitions took off and we just couldn't pass up this opportunity. I didn't want to do it this soon, but it sort of just fell into our laps.

They are looking to have Nine Line BBQ open by early to mid-July.  We'll definitely let you know when they are planning their grand opening, so you can go and sink your teeth into some of those amazing ribs, chicken, brisket, and smoked meatloaf.
