Texas House Speaker Dennis Bonnen has appointed 13 members to the newly created House Select Committee on Mass Violence Prevention and Community Safety.

According to the Texas House website, the committee is tasked with studying and creating policies that help prevent mass gun violence.

The 13 appointed members include Republican Representative Four Price of Amarillo. Republican Representative Drew Darby of House District 72 has been named committee chairman and Democratic Representative Poncho Nevárez of District 74 has been named vice-chairman.

Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has formed a similar committee in the Texas Senate but has yet to announce its members.
