Amarillo Gamers Raise Funds For CMN This Saturday With Extra Life
Gaming for a cause.
This Saturday, gamers are gathering for a great cause. Get your controllers and d20s ready for "Extra Life" November 2nd, benefiting Children's Miracle Network.
Amarillo's "Extra Life" event will be held on the 4th floor of the Byrd Business Building at Amarillo College this year. YC3 is teaming up with Game Quest, Vault Gaming Center, AC, and CMN to host a 12-hour "gaming marathon."
YOU are invited to participate.
The best part, is that YOU are invited to participate. If you game, or have kids who do, you can attend the event and help raise funds for CMN.
At the Amarillo event there will be something for gamers of all stripes. From VR to card games, they'll have something for you to participate in.
From a recent press release from YC3 co-owner, Brandon Biggers:
"Smash Brothers, Mario Kart, Magic the Gathering, D&D - you name it, we'll have it here."
It kicks off at 11am. Tickets are $10 for adults, $5 for children 12 and under. 4 and under get in free.
Extra-Life has raised over $14 million for families.
Brandon also comments on how this is a chance for gamers to do what they love and make a difference. All proceeds benefit Children's Miracle Network of Amarillo and the High Plains Region.
Extra Life started in 2008 and, according to the press release, has raised over $14 million for Children's Miracle Network and families who need medical care.
You don't have to attend to help.
If you aren't able to make it to the event, you can still participate. In fact, this is how I'll be doing my part this Saturday since my squad is spread out across multiple states.
You can register as an individual or as a team for this Saturday and game from home. Go online to Extra-Life.org to sign up. The process is pretty simple, and doesn't take long. I got myself, and my squad, signed up in a few minutes.
The press release states that:
Everyone is encouraged to create their own fundraising page and use social media to raise money.
For more info, go online to Extra-Life.org, and check out the event page on Facebook.
