Amarillo Police Department is Looking to Hire More Women

As it stands now the Amarillo Police Department has very few female officers on the force. But new recruit efforts hopes to change that.

Traditionally, APD has been a male-dominated field. This week they launched a successful strategy for recruiting women. They held a job fair on Thursday, May 2nd.

They had a panel of female officers answer questions from women in the audience wondering about what life as an officer could look like.

What makes being a Police Officer in Amarillo so great is many of the female officers said when they entered the force, they didn't just get a job, they gained a family. The female officers have formed a tight-knit group in the Amarillo community
