The Amarillo SPCA is an organization that is special to the city. Their mission statement puts it plainly: animals, as living creatures, have value beyond economic measure and are entitled to legal, moral, and ethical consideration and protection.

“Our mission is to be an advocate for animals and to defend their rights; to provide for the well-being of our community's animals who are abandoned, injured, subjected to unfair or cruel treatment, or otherwise in need; to cultivate in our community an awareness of the animals whose world we share; to promote a bond of mutual assistance between people and animals; and to instill respect for and appreciation of all living things”. 

The Amarillo SPCA is now hiring for the positions of kennel keepers. Due to the pandemic, the Amarillo SPCA is not accepting applications made in-person. Instead, they ask that those interested visit their website: www.amarillospcashelter.com to download an application from the site and fill it out completely. Applications can be mailed to Amarillo SPCA, 11901 S. Coulter, 79119.

Positions open are part-time for kennel crew personnel. Kennel crew duties include cleaning, feeding, maintenance, etc. Flexible availability is required. Once new employee training is completed, regular hours will be 1-5pm, 5 days per week.
