Amarillo’s Guyon Saunders Center Desperately Needs Men’s Clothing
When I saw the picture on social media, it broke my heart. The Guyon Saunders Resource Center in downtown Amarillo posted a nearly empty table that is supposed to be filled with men's clothing available to the people they help. You can see the picture above and why it is important that we reach into our closets and help those in need right now.
If you have any new or gently used and cleaned men's clothing you can donate, they will gladly accept all donations. Right now they have a need for active wear, including long fitting sports shorts. They need small and medium underwear, boxers are preferred, but all will be accepted. There is also a need for big and tall clothing as one of their clients wears a 6x size.
If you are not familiar with the Guyon Saunders Resource Center, they provide a day room that serves as a day shelter to those that are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. The day room program also offers a separate Children and Families Day Room. The Children and Families Day Room offers a day shelter to parents and their children – giving them the opportunity for a safe place to play, learn, and interact with others, as well as having access to basic needs.
Along with just a roof over everyone's head, the resource center offers just that - resources. That includes programs, clothing, food, and other things that support our homeless population and help people get back on their feet during one of the most trying times of their life.
