Congressman Jodey Arrington wants schools around the nation to reopen and on Wednesday, he led seven colleagues in sending a letter to President Joe Biden demanding that action be taken.

The letter, according to Arrington's office, calls on Biden to "follow the science and immediately reopen schools."

According to the press release from Arrington, students around the nation have suffered adverse effects from being out of classrooms for nearly a year. The American Academy of Pediatrics has been calling for schools to reopen for months.

Congressman Arrington also believes that any school that refuses to reopen should not receive federal COVID-19 relief funding. Instead, that funding should go to families to help alleviate the financial stress of online learning.

Arrington also wrote that the Biden Administration is endangering the lives of students:

“The Biden Administration has repeatedly changed their stance on reopening schools, blatantly ignoring the science from their own doctors and health advisors that supports reopening schools immediately. As the Biden Administration jeopardizes the lives of an entire generation of American students, the pandemic lockdown continues to impede students’ academic success, damage their mental health, and disrupt their entire support system, especially for the most vulnerable. President Biden should listen to parents and follow the science – schools should reopen immediately.”

Reps. Yvette Herrell, Ronny Jackson, Brian Babin, Alex Mooney, Randy Weber, Michael Cloud and Dan Bishop also signed onto Arrington's letter.

The Daily Caller was the first news organization to publish the full letter, which you can read here.
