Next month is going to be insanely busy. There are a lot of events coming up in the area. If you're bored, it's going to be your own fault.

One of the many events planned is the Be-A-Hero: Don't Drink and Drive event planned for Oct 2. While the focus will be anti-drinking-and-driving, there will be a lot of fun for the whole family. Especially if you have kids.

The event will take place at Thompson Park. It lasts from 10 AM until 2 PM.

There's going to be a decent amount of stuff for the kids to do. There's go-karts, a firebox, and free pumpkins; according to a flyer for the event.

There will also be food trucks, a DJ, and a Halloween costume contest.

Guest speakers will be there. Amarillo Police Department and Fire Department will be on hand. SADD will also be there. TXDOT and Public Health will be there as well.

All in all, it looks like it will be a pretty busy morning and early afternoon with plenty to do.

While most of us know and understand how dangerous drinking and driving is, and we know that we should never do it, there are still too many among us who decide to drink and get behind the wheel.

If you've just glanced at news headlines this year, you know that there is a problem with drunk drivers on our roadways. We've seen headlines where vehicles crash into buildings and emergency vehicles because of someone's decision to drink and drive.

This event will hopefully be a fun way to reinforce the knowledge that drinking and driving is never okay. You should always get a ride if you've decided to indulge.

Amarillo Landmarks: Negative Yelp Reviews

Yelp can be a strange and angry place. That's what I found out recently when I decided to sort the reviews by "lowest rating" first.

I was okay with the people upset over bad service and what not. But I came across a few reviews that, for lack of a better word, left me speechless in their scathing negative reviews on some of Amarillo's most iconic places. Prepare your self for plenty of head shaking and "I dunno" shrugs.
