Country icon Charlie Daniels took to Twitter on Friday morning (Jan. 4) to express his displeasure with a statement made by newly seated Michigan Democrat Congresswoman Rashida Tlaib, in which she called for the impeachment of President Donald Trump, leveling explicit language against the president.

"Newly sworn in congresswoman Rashida Tlaib has already cheapened her tenure as the first thing most of the nation will remember about her is her frivolous foul mouth vow to impeach," Daniels stated on Twitter. "It will be extremely difficult to take anything she says seriously from now on."

Tlaib is among a group of progressive, female representatives elected to the House during the 2018 mid-term elections, and on Jan. 3 -- the same day she formally took her seat -- she co-penned an op-ed in the Detroit Free Press that called, on bold and adamant terms, for Trump's removal from office.

"Each passing day brings new damage to the countless people hurt by this lawless president's actions," Tlaib wrote in her piece. "We cannot undo the trauma that he is causing to our people, and this nation. Those most vulnerable to his administration's cruelty are counting on us to act -- act to remove the president and put this country on a path to true justice."

However, Daniels' Twitter post speaks more directly to a speech Tlaib gave on Thursday evening (Jan. 3) at an event sponsored by MoveOn.org, in which she recalled the moment she learned she had won the election in November of 2017.

"And when your son looks at you and says, 'Mama, look, you won. Bullies don't win,' and I said, 'Baby, they don't, because we're gonna go in there and we're going to impeach the motherf--ker," Tlaib says, to uproarious applause from the crowd.

For her part, Tlaib stood by her actions, stating "I will always speak truth to power. #unapologeticallyMe," on Twitter the following day. Daniels also followed up on his Twitter post with another statement, saying "After seeing the new congress, all I can say is PRAY AMERICA!!"
