It's an Amarillo tradition, and quite frankly, it's the biggest BBQ cook-off I have ever been to. This will be my 3rd time going and I cannot wait for the Amarillo Chamber of Commerce's "24th Annual Good Times Celebration Barbecue Cook-Off!" Mark your calendar now for Thursday, September 12th, 2019. Gates open up that night at 5pm and you want to get there early to make sure you don't miss out on a single bite!

As always, the location will be at the Chamber Grounds downtown with entrances along 10th & Polk, 12th & Polk, and 11th & Tyler. Over 100 cook teams will be smoking up the best tasting meats along with vendors showing off their delicious side item recipes. This is an event that you want come hungry for! It is estimated that this year's attendance will be up to over 6,000 people. Cooking teams compete for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place honors for the best ribs, brisket and “other” meats in professional, corporate or amateur divisions. 100 volunteer judges have the chore of choosing the winners from some of the most mouthwatering food found anywhere. The Showmanship competition often sees cooking teams use extravagant themes for their costumes and booth decoration.

Tickets are on sale in advance for just $30 and will be $40 at the gate the day of the event. Get you tickets at any Panhandle Ticket outlet including the Civic Center Box Office and any area United Supermarket, by phone at 806-378-3096 or online.

If you are interested in participating in the 2019 Cook-Off, contact Lindsey at 806-342-2006. Registration is online this year, so if you had a team last year and have not received the link, please contact us. *NOTE: Submitting the online form or paperwork does not guarantee a space at the event. Team space is filled with the previous year's returning sponsors first, followed by new sponsor teams. Space is limited.
