Lucie Silvas is mesmerizing during her cover of "Always on My Mind," made famous by Willie Nelson. Silvas performed as a part of the CMA's Forever Country series, which pays tribute to country music's classics.

The country newcomer shines from behind her piano as she delivers the heartbroken tune that tells the story of a man apologizing for not treating his lover the way she deserved. Silvas' rugged, sultry voice mixes eloquently with the vibe of the song, and even though she makes it her own, the original message is not lost.

"And maybe I didn't hold you / All those lonely, lonely times / I guess I never told you / I am so happy that you're mine / Little things I should have said and done / I just never took the time / You were always on my mind," Silvas croons.

"Always On My Mind" scored Nelson Single and Song of the Year in 1982 and Song of the Year at the 1983 CMA Awards. The track also reached the top of Billboard's Hot Country Singles chart in 1982, where it stayed until the year's end.

To celebrate the CMA Awards’ 50th birthday this November, the famed association has been pairing up contemporary artists with traditional country songs to bring the genre’s fans some impressive covers in the Forever Country Cover Series. So far we have heard Josh Turner perform "Three Wooden Crosses," Jon Pardi take on "Forever and Ever, Amen" and Dustin Lynch do "Friends in Low Places" justice, among other great nods.

The 2016 CMA Awards will broadcast live from Nashville on Nov. 2 via ABC.
