Gov. Greg Abbot in Talks To Ease Up on COVID-19 Restrictions
Governor Greg Abbott announced in a press conference late last week that he plans to begin loosening up on the Covid-19 restrictions imposed on restaurants and other businesses.
Under the current restrictions in Bell County, bars can reopen at 50% occupancy while other businesses that were open at half capacity can move up to 75% occupancy.
Gov. Abbot commented during the conference that "We know there are businesses that need to get back to work. There are employees that have bills to pay. There are jobs that must be opened."
Reopening considerations come as Covid-19 cases and hospitalizations decrease to under 10,000 for the first the time since December according to data from the Texas Department of State Health Services.
At the same time, over 1 million people in Texas have been fully vaccinated, with over 2 million having received at least one dose of the vaccine.
Gov. Abbot said "We want to make sure that the numbers do continue along the same trend.". So as long as cases continue to go down and vaccinations continue to rise, then we will be looking at a more opened Texas.
Please continue to follow the guidelines from the CDC on how to slow the spread of the virus like social distancing and wearing a mask. Doing this and getting a vaccine as soon as possible is how we can get back to normal.
