Based on voting records and other variables, Hereford was named the most conservative place in America, followed by Dalhart in the number eight spot.

A recent study done by Crowdpac examined the political views of every single city or town in the United States. They developed a tool that lets anyone see where their hometown ranks on the scale of most to least liberal or conservative.

Five of the most conservative cities or towns are in Texas. Hereford, Princeton, Monahans, Dalhart, and Childress made the top ten, respectively. Outside of Texas, Appling, Georgia; Cripple Creek, Colorado; Orange City, Iowa; Sumiton, Alabama; and Eagle Mountain, Utah, were also in the top ten.

People in these cities or towns are most likely to vote for Ted Cruz or Jeb Bush in the 2016 election and least likely to vote for Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders. They have traditionally Republican voting records for the majority of the population.

Surprisingly, Amarillo came in pretty far down the list as the 80th most conservative city in America. Canyon is number 19, Dumas is 23rd, Borger is 25th, and Pampa is 58th.

On the other side of the spectrum, Vashon Island, Washington, is considered the most liberal place in the U.S.
