As we learned from the recent incident at Walmart, active shooter situations can happen here too.  Here's some tips from the Potter County Sheriff's office.

  1. You don't have to go out of the same door in which you came in.  Make yourself aware of all the exits.  Go out any emergency exit. The alarm will sound the emergency.  99% of all restaurants have exits through the kitchen.
  2. If you can't get out, barricade yourself in a room.  Lock the door, put large objects against the door.  Use your belt or rope to wrap around the door closer at the top of the door.
  3. Hopefully, it won't come to this. But lastly, DEFEND.  Anything can be used as a weapon.

If you would like more information call the Potter County Sheriff's Office at 379-2964 for Sgt. Blackmon and he would be glad to come out to your business and speak. Or you can contact Randall County Sheriff's Department, Amarillo Police or your local Law Enforcement.
