Here's what we know so far regarding a situation that just continued to escalate this morning:

According to our friends at ABC 7, APD detectives were following up on some information regarding a residence on South Monroe. They had received information that a possible crime had been committed at that residence.

Officers determined that someone was inside, but were unable to make contact with that person. A search warrant was issued, and Critical Incident Response was initiated.

Then there was a standoff between the individual and the Amarillo SWAT Team, who had barricaded himself inside the home.

He was taken into custody around 11:42 AM.

When the home was being searched, human remains were discovered inside.

So, what started as information of a possible crime eventually led to a standoff, and then the discovery of human remains. There's definitely more questions than answers at this time.

As soon as we know more, we'll update you.
