Today is St. Patrick's Day. That means different things to different people, but one thing that a vast majority of us have in common is that at some point today we'll go out and grab a pint. If you plan on having a pint of Guinness, know that Texas is one of the most expensive states to purchase that pint in.

You'll Pay A Premium For That Pint In Texas

At least compared to most of the nation. The inquisitive folks over at FinanceBuzz decided to do a little digging and see which states offer up the most expensive pint of Guinness; just in time for St. Patrick's Day.

What they found out is that Guinness is pretty expensive in the Lone Star State.

Texas Offers Up The 10th Most Expensive Pint Of Guinness In The US

Which, if we need to make ourselves feel better about this, is better than being the most expensive.

The national average when it comes to the cost of a pint of Guinness is $6.70. Considering how filling a pint of Guinness can be, I can see myself paying that much for one.

In Texas, that same pint of love from Dublin is going cost you $7.45. That's one shiny quarter away from being a whole dollar more expensive.

At least we're not California, where a pint of Guinness will snatch about $8.55 out of your pocket.

If You're Getting A Pint Today, Be Sure To Do It The Right Way

Nothing against buying a sixer from a store and taking it home with you, but Guinness is best enjoyed when it is served on tap. There's actual science behind it.

If you're lucky enough to know of a place where they have it on tap, make that your stop and have a pint with friends. You can also go to the Guinness website and use their locator to find restaurants and stores where you can buy one.

LOOK: Best Beers From Every State

To find the best beer in each state and Washington D.C., Stacker analyzed January 2020 data from BeerAdvocate, a website that gathers user scores for beer in real-time. BeerAdvocate makes its determinations by compiling consumer ratings for all 50 states and Washington D.C. and applying a weighted rank to each. The weighted rank pulls the beer toward the list's average based on the number of ratings it has and aims to allow lesser-known beers to increase in rank. Only beers with at least 10 rankings to be considered; we took it a step further to only include beers with at least 100 user rankings in our gallery. Keep reading to find out what the best beer is in each of the 50 states and Washington D.C.
