Have you ever come home from vacation and found more bugs around the house than normal? Texas cockroaches, fruit flies, spiders, and several other creepy crawlies can get pretty out of control during the summer months, especially when you aren't there to maintain the situation. This interesting hack just might help you while you are on vacation, and have left your house empty to be explored by whatever critters could be lurking in the cracks and crevices.

I've never seen anyone do this before and I was pretty intrigued. Luckily, I'm not dealing with any pests in my apartment at the moment, but any preventative measures are always welcomed by me.

A woman in New York posted a TikTok video of a practice that is apparently pretty common there. Over 11 million people have watched the video and the majority of commenters agree that this is the way to keep bugs at bay while you're on vacay. I see how it could be applied to literally any place in the world, not just New York.

I mean, name a place where there aren't any bugs...

Exactly.

Anyway, check out her video below:

Basically, she puts a vase or cup over all of the drains in her house to keep bugs from getting in there to get a sip of water or throw a bug party or whatever else those dudes are up to, while she is out on vacation. Pretty simple. This would be especially helpful if you've ever been the victim of a fruit fly infestation. Those little guys love to hang out in drains.

It's also worth mentioning that bugs don't care how rich or poor you are. If there's a will there's a way. Bugs are basically just shameless, uninvited guests that eat your free buffet and stay long after they've been asked to leave. Trap house, or mansion, they are always down for a party.
