April 8 is a big day for as we get ready to watch the eclipse (at least some of it) in Amarillo, Texas. Though we won't be able to view the eclipse in totality, we'll still get a decent view. If you're wondering how and where to watch the eclipse this year, here are a few tips.

Attend An Eclipse Watch Party

Events are happening in a few different places. They include

  • Don Harrington Discovery Center
  • AMC Mortgage
  • Amarillo Botanical Gardens

The eclipse will begin in Amarillo at around 12:21 PM and will last until 2:56 PM. Hopefully, the Texas panhandle weather will not do its thing and completely ruin this for everyone.

Use Eclipse Glasses To Watch The Eclipse In Amarillo

Unfortunately, those special glasses made just for viewing the eclipse are hard to come by in Amarillo. Social media is flooded right now with people asking where to find a pair after finding most people have run out.

If you can't get your paws on a pair of eclipse specs, don't worry. There's an at-home remedy that you can use. You can make your own solar viewer. Yes, it looks a little complicated, but if you're in a pinch and really want those glasses, this will be the next best thing.

Watch News Coverage Of The Eclipse

If all else fails, you can always jump on social media or turn on the news. This eclipse has been hyped since the beginning of the year. There is going to be an insane amount of coverage. I wouldn't be surprised to find several people going live during the eclipse. Do some channel surfing or jump online and you'll find what you're looking for.
