There are plenty of places in Texas that are notoriously bad when it comes to traffic and the way people drive. A recent study was done, and it set out to find the most dangerous counties in the country for truck drivers. Examining data from fatal crashes involving large trucks, it was revealed that Texas has a problem.

Texas Has 5 Of The Top 10 Most Dangerous Counties For Truck Drivers

This was a little mind-blowing. According to a recent study conducted by Jason Stone Injury Lawyers, Texas is home to 5 of the top 10 most dangerous counties for truck drivers. They determined this by looking at data from 2017 to 2021. They looked at vehicle crash data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration and then looked at how many of those crashes involved a large truck.

According to their study, the most dangerous county in the nation for truck drivers is Reeves County in Texas. Roughly half of the crashes looked at during the time frame used in the study involved a large truck.

Other counties in Texas that were included in the top 10 are:

  • Howard - 4th
  • Fayette - 5th
  • Midland - 7th
  • Erath - 8th

Be Aware Of Your Surroundings, Pay Attention, And Share The Road

It's a little hard to believe that half of the list of the top 10 most dangerous counties for truck drivers is in Texas. When you look at the top 20, we have more entries than any other state. We've got to do better.

We constantly see reminders on the highway to drive safely. It isn't that hard to do. Put away the distractions while you're driving (looking at your cell phone). Be aware of what's going on around you. Don't drink and drive. Share the road.

Hopefully, when the next study like this is done, we'll see improvement in the Lone Star State. We can do better than this.
