Nothing against Santa, mangers, or Frosty the Snowman. There's plenty of love about the trees, lights, and wrapping paper we're bombarded with this time of year. But if you're looking for something different this time of year...if you want to shake it up a little bit...I've found three events just for you.

Take Time To Relax, Let Go, And Unwind During Solstice

One of the major themes this time of year is letting go of the old and embracing the new. We all talk about letting go of the disappointments and let-downs of the last year, and embracing hope for the year ahead.

This year, you could celebrate the winter solstice in the Texas panhandle with this event that is full of food, drums, and good vibes.

This winter solstice celebration will be on Dec 21. If it sounds like something you might be interested in, follow this link for the info.

Go To The Punk Rock Show

Amarillo and Punk. They go together like...two things that go together. I don't really need to go into it beyond that.

Other than to say that there is a punk rock show coming up on Dec 23 at RR Bar, and it makes total sense in Amarillo for there to be an "Anti Christmas Cheer Party."

The event description mentions, an insane number of times, how this is an event where you can just be yourself. Be your true self. Dress up or don't. It's punk...so who cares? It's accepting of everyone...and on and on.

I guess the point is that it's a punk show for everyone. By show, I mean a night with a dj who does the only punk nights in town, and they're only here twice a year.

Info is here. You'll probably find me there in my favorite dirty laundry.

Win A Couple Hundred Bucks As A Naughty Mrs. Claus

Bit of a drive for this one. It's in Plainview, but I couldn't stop myself from including it in my list. Yes, there's a club and sports bar that will be hosting a naughty Mrs. Claus contest, and there's a couple of Benny Franklin's photos up for grabs.

You'll need to make your decision quick though. It's tonight (12/16).

You can find more info here. You can find your outfit...on your own. I don't have links for that.

Amarillo Botanical Garden's Christmas in The Garden

Christmas time something magical happens at the Amarillo Botanical Gardens, over a million lights decorate the grounds of this majestic place.

Every year they open the gates over the holidays and thousands of people come through to see this magical holiday world.

If you have never experienced the Amarillo Botanical Gardens' Christmas in the Gardens, you are missing a magical Christmas experience complete with Santa Claus.

We'll give you a sneak peek and a tour of Christmas in the Gardens.

Say You're From Amarillo Without Saying You're From Amarillo

Amarillo is a pretty quirky place. We've got the Big Texan, the weird signs, and (obviously) the famed Cadillac Ranch. But more than that, there's a distinct culture of close-knit community, eccentrics, a thriving arts scene, and much more.

The point is, living in Amarillo is a unique experience. Because of that, it's really pretty easy to tell who's a native or a long-time resident. And I can prove it.

Here's a couple of ways you can say you're from Amarillo.....without saying you're from Amarillo.

Google Answers the Top 10 Questions About Amarillo

I love Google. It can literally answer ANYTHING you need it to answer. Whether it's right or wrong is a totally different question.

Recently, I found myself wondering about something and went to Google. And that's when I started noticing the "people also asked..." section and BOY...Some of them made perfect sense, some of them were interesting, and one of them was downright baffling...and it was a top 10 question which is even more absurd.

So let's see what we've got. Here's the top 10 questions as asked to Google about Amarillo.
