Amarillo Man Finally Sentenced in Death of Homeless Man
It has almost been a year since Lloyd McMaster was killed by a driver as he was standing in one of his normal places at I40 and Georgia. Lloyd McMaster, also known as Scratch-off was killed pretty much instantly.
What makes this even worse is the fact that the person who hit and killed Lloyd also decided to run. Not a smart move. He was caught pretty much right away. He made it all the way to the McDonalds on I40 and Western. That snap decision would come back to haunt the driver.
Casey Curtis Howard was twenty years old when he made the decision to run. He, of course, was arrested. He was charged back in January in the death of McMaster. He was charged with a slew of things including evading arrest with a previous conviction.
He was sentenced recently on the charge of an accident involving death. He waived his right to a jury and entered a plea of guilty according to the docket of the 108th District Court. He was sentenced to seven years at the Texas Department of Corrections.
What I found interesting was when I Googled Casey Curtis Howard he has had several arrests in his young life. The first one I could find was back in 2019 when he was just 17. I found a total of four mugshots for Howard. Most of the charges were drug-related.
It is a shame that he didn't learn from previous run-ins with the law. I hope this time gives him the chance to do better in the future.
