Growing up I spent many days enjoying the city pools. Southwest Swimming Pool was the one where my mom would drop me and my sister off many days. We had so much fun. To this day certain songs I hear on the radio remind me of those days.

The pool always played a local radio station overhead. Those were great memories. I would dread those mornings when I woke up and it was rainy or just colder. I knew the pool would not be open. Those days were such a bummer for us. We really looked forward to spending our days at the pool.

Of course, as a kid, I never thought about the cost of going to the swimming pool every day. Never thought about there not being a pool pass for families. That probably would have been really neat to have. Just because I never thought of it didn't mean that others didn't request such a thing.

In fact that is something that has become a thing now. Amarillo Parks and Recreation recently made the announcement:

Now you can purchase an individual pool pass. If you have a family of four you can get the family pass. Just know that you have to purchase them for individual pools. So your pass for the Southwest Pool will not work out at the Thompson Park Pool and vice versa.

It's just great that this has become a thing. An individual pass at Southwest or Southeast Pools will cost you $100, for a family of four it will cost $300. If you head out to Thompson Park their pool pass will run you $150 for an individual pass or $350 for a family of four.
