From Quiet to Quenched: Why Wonderland’s “Shoot the Chute” is the Comeback of the Year
It's a new day and a new season at Wonderland Park in Amarillo. They opened up for the season on Easter weekend with new owners. Those new owners brought some changes to the park.
A New Era: Ownership Changes and Season Passes
They have already brought us the Season Pass. A feature we have never had before. They brought new food to the concession stands. The Spectator Pass has also made a return. So things are looking up.

Some of the questions that have been asked were about some of the rides that were not running when the park closed last season. There were a handful of rides that were waiting on parts and were not operable.
Making a Splash: The Return of Shoot the Chute
One of those rides that had been quiet for a while was Shoot the Chute. A water ride that was a fan favorite, especially on those hot Amarillo summer days. This ride could make a splash and bring some summer relief, whether you were on it or not.
Shoot the Chute was the ride nestled between the Texas Tornado and The Himalaya that featured a bridge you could stand on and get soaked while watching others enjoying the ride. Everyone loved the bridge, the chance to get soaked on a sunny day.
Wonderland's social media announced recently that Shoot the Chute was back for the season and would be running all summer long. Nothing is better than having another water ride that we could get on and guarantee a good soaking.
So no matter how long it has been since you made a trip out to Wonderland, it is time to check it out again. Some things have stayed the same, but a lot has changed. The summer is only going to get hotter, and the park and water rides are here for a great cooldown.
Planning Your Visit: 2026 Summer Hours and Schedule
