End of an Era: Jones AT&T Rebranded to ‘Galaxy Stadium’ in New 15-Year Deal

For the past 20 years, Texas Tech's football stadium was called Jones AT&T Stadium, but that's all about to change beginning in the 2026 season. Out with the old, in with the new. Please put your hands together for the debut season of Texas Tech football at Galaxy Stadium!

What Happened to Jones AT&T?

Tech's football stadium went through several name changes in the past. The structure was built in 1947, and for 53 years was called Jones Stadium. Then, in 2000, it was renamed to Jones SBC Stadium after SBC Communications. Eventually, SBC changed to AT&T, and so too did the stadium name in 2006.

For 20 years, from 2006 to 2026, fans from all over the world knew it as Jones AT&T Stadium. After AT&T's contract ended, Texas Tech looked for a new sponsor to have the honor of appearing in the stadium's official name.

This is when one of the global leaders in data center infrastructure, Galaxy, decided to partner with Texas Tech to have the football stadium named after them.

Don't worry, even though Clifford B. Jones will no longer appear in the stadium's name, his vision as the university's third president will still be honored in another fashion.

More NIL Deals

In addition to having the stadium renamed, the collaboration with Galaxy will also provide NIL (name, image, likeness) opportunities for Red Raider athletes.

This partnership will last 15 years. So, in 2041, Galaxy will either renew its contract or choose to withdraw their name from the stadium.

Texas Tech Football 2026 Season

So, it's finally official! Game one of the 2026 football season will see the Red Raiders hosting Abilene Christian in Galaxy Stadium for the very first time.

After this September 5th matchup, we can all officially say, without a doubt, that it was the best football in the galaxy...
