It wouldn't be Help 4 The Holidays if we didn't get a freezing cold day in Amarillo. Naturally, it would be day one that day would decide it wanted to invade us.

The feels like temperature never got above 33 degrees, and let me tell you, we could feel that. Muscles are already stiff and sore, windburn has set in, and it's only been one day. Guess what? That's not stopping us.

Day One Recap

Typically, Monday is the slowest day of the drive for us. It makes sense considering we're just getting out here and talking about everything Help 4 The Holidays. However, we said we wanted to make it the biggest Monday yet.

Well, it seems we achieved that goal. Sure, it wasn't a HUGE day by any stretch, and we are a long way from completing our goal. We did, however, get our biggest donation on a Monday, and it kicked things off on the right foot, so we aren't complaining one bit.

Hero Of The Day

Really cool story came out of day one. A man named Victor rolled up in his truck, opened up the doors to the back seat, and inside was a back seat full of bags for us. Not something we normally see on day one, but believe it or not, the story gets better.

Victor doesn't even live in Amarillo. He's here for work. He was listening to one of our stations and heard what we were doing. He felt compelled to help the city, even though he doesn't call it home. THAT is what Help 4 The Holidays is all about.

Day Two Focus

Really, it's the same as day one. We need everything on the list still, and lots of it. The first three days are about collecting as much stuff as we can so we can focus on certain items in the second half of the week.

Head into Walmart, a dollar store, anywhere really, and grab a few things. Seriously, the dollar stores are your best friend, and ours as well. Load up on toiletries, cleaning supplies, etc., and bring them by. The more of that we can knock out in the first few days, the better it'll be for focusing on certain items in the second half of the week. Hope to see you here in Wolflin Square at the old Vexus building today.
