Keith Urban stepped away from the judging panel after American Idol went off in the air in 2016, but he may be interested in returning when the show is revived in 2018.

In an interview with CMT, the country superstar opened up about whether or not he'd participate in the singing show. "Possibly," Urban says, "Yeah, it’s music—that’s good! Music’s good."

He was careful to skirt the facts, not confirming or denying whether he's been in contact with producers, but Urban did share that there are a lot of elements in motion that leave his involvement up in the air.

"There’s a lot of moving parts. That’s a good political answer, isn’t it?" he admits. "But it’s also quite true of the state of it right now. There’s a lot of moving parts in everybody’s camps. We’ll see what happens."

The "Wasted Time" singer served as a judge on the popular singing show for four seasons, starting in 2013.

Where Are Country's Idol Finalists Now?

Any Urban fan knows that his love of music runs deep. While he's experimented when it comes to his sound, he's not sure if he'd dive into the restaurant world like his peers Florida Georgia Line, Dierks Bentley and more.

"I’ve got a lot of things I want to do, but for me, it’s got to be music-centric. It’s just got to have a music connection," Urban says.

The superstar walked away as the night's biggest winner at the recent 2017 CMT Music Awards, scooping up Video of the Year, Male Video of the Year, Social Superstar and Collaborative Video of the Year for “The Fighter" with Carrie Underwood.
