Lauren Alaina has canceled two concerts due to a family medical emergency. Although the singer has not explained the exact reason for the cancellations, she's previously revealed that her stepfather is battling Stage IV cancer.

On Wednesday night (Aug. 29), Alaina let fans know on social media that she will not be able to perform at the Pepsi Gulf Coast Jam in Panama City Beach, Fla., on Friday (Aug. 31), "due to a family medical emergency." Earlier in the week, Alaina canceled her Wednesday night show in Rochester, N.Y., for the same reason.

"I’m really sorry I can’t be there," Alaina explained on Twitter of the first show cancellation. "Love you guys."

In June, Alaina revealed that her stepdad, Sam Ramker, had been diagnosed with Stage IV cancer. At the 2018 City of Hope Celebrity Softball Game, which benefits the City of Hope cancer treatment and research center, Alaina shared that her stepfather had been diagnosed "a couple months ago." On Tuesday (Aug. 28), Alaina's mom Kristy shared in an update on her husband's GoFundMe page that Sam had been admitted to the ICU due to an infection in his lungs.

"Today they are going to be draining the fluid. Please keep us in your prayers," Alaina's mom writes. Despite the scary turn, Kristy adds, "Treatment is going well. We just hit a speed bump in the road. Treatment will continue this week as planned."

Although Alaina has not shared further news about her stepdad's condition, she referenced "a time of darkness" in a post about her 2018 CMA Awards New Artist of the Year nomination, which she received on Tuesday morning. "It’s been a tough week for my family," Alaina writes, "but this brightened everything up a little."

Alaina's next scheduled concert is set for Sept. 6 in Macon, Ga. She's spent her summer touring with Jason Aldean, as an opening act on his High Noon Neon Tour.
