Lauren Alaina paid tribute to a movie that had a big impact on her dreams of country stardom on Dancing With the Stars on Monday night (Oct. 14). The "Getting Good" singer and her partner, Gleb Savchenko, danced the samba to "Under the Sea" from The Little Mermaid as part of Disney Night on the reality competition show.

Alaina, as Ariel, performed the elaborate dance in front of an aquatic background, dressed in a bright blue skirt and wearing a red wig. The judges awarded her and Savchenko with a score of 23 out of 40, and they praised Alaina for undertaking such a challenging dance. Carrie Ann Inaba called the samba "one of the hardest dances to get."

The singer told the judges that Ariel from The Little Mermaid was her favorite Disney princess, because she dreamed of leaving home and starting a new life in the same way that Alaina dreamed of leaving home and launching a career in country music when she was young.

"As a little kid who wanted to be a singer, I would just watch this movie over and over again and watch her daydream about this life she was gonna have," Alaina said. "That was literally me as a little girl. Ariel wanted to be a human and I wanted to be a country singer. We both beat the odds!"

In fact, Alaina says, she won her first-ever talent show by singing "Part of Your World" from the film.

None of the celebrity contestants were sent home on Monday.

Alaina had a slightly calmer week this week than last, when she went home to Tennessee to visit with a cousin who had slipped into a coma after suffering a brain bleed. She dedicated her foxtrot to her cousin on Oct. 7, earning a score of 32 out of 40.

Dancing With the Stars airs each Monday at 8PM ET on ABC.
