James Valentine should thank his lucky stars: he survived after a chainsaw got stuck in his neck.

Valentine, 21, is a tree trimmer who was cutting down a tree in Ross, Pennsylvania on Monday when he lost control of the chainsaw.

The blade got wedged between Valentine’s collarbone and neck before a rescue crew removed the saw’s engine. He remained conscious while he was taken to the hospital.

And, perhaps most fortunately, the chainsaw remained in his neck the whole time, which prevented further bleeding until doctors removed it.
