For as long as I can remember one of my favorite things about flying Southwest Airlines was the peanuts.  I couldn't wait for the flight attendants to start walking down the aisle with those baskets filled with packets of peanuts.   Peanuts were a part of flying Southwest and that tradition is ending.

It was a great flight when they broke out the honey roasted peanuts, that was a bonus!  They very rarely did give out honey roasted peanuts.  I remember picking up family members from the airport and asking if they saved me some peanuts.  There is just something about those Southwest Airline Peanuts.  I guess being up in the air makes them taste better.

The company announced that they would not longer be serving peanuts on their flights as of August 1, 2018.

The reason for this change, peanut allergies.  They have chosen to stop serving peanuts because of the concerns of customers who suffer from peanut allergies.

Don't worry if you are a frequent flyer of Southwest Airlines, you'll still get a snack.  It'll be pretzels.

My question is, how long will it be, before they stop serving pretzels because of those customers with wheat allergies or Celiac Disease.

I'll admit I'm a little heartbroken over the decision.  I know peanut allergies are very life threatening for people who have them, so I can understand why they made the decision.  I just don't have to like it.

I guess I'll just have to bring my own peanuts on my next flight.
