Wildfires are still burning around Amarillo. Take extra care!

The National Park Service reports that the fire is centered in "sky island" which is located in the Chisos Mountains.

Wildfire season is here, and it's gonna take all of us to get through it.

As we inch closer to the Fourth of July holiday, there was a question as to whether or not localities would allow fireworks. But, we do have some good news to finally share!

In the Texas panhandle, not only does spring bring us warmer weather, it also marks the start of the wildfire and grassfire season.

The Randall County Fire Department wants area residents to not be concerned if they see smoke on Thursday along south loop 335.

Even with record rainfalls to kick off October, we will see a risk of wildfires return to the Texas panhandle for the rest of the week and into the weekend.

Now through Monday, March 19th, the Texas Panhandle will have prime conditions to support wildfires.

Prescribed burns are done in the cooler months when there isn't much wind of course. Spring and Fall season are prime for burns.
