The Governor May Be Ending the Restrictions but I’m Still Masking Up For Now

Earlier today, Governor Greg Abbott Decided to put an end to mask restrictions and business limitations across the Lone Star state in the next few days. Now I'm not gonna sit here and regurgitate the same story everyone else is because we don't need that. But there is something that is bothering me. what's the rush?

It's true, Texas Covid 19 numbers across the state are trending downward and more vaccines are being made available to more Texans every day. but let's look at where we are. For most of us the reality of having that needle in our arm hasn't happened yet. and even the CDC is saying now isn't the time to take our foot off the gas when it comes to being vigilant about the spread, especially with new variants showing up. To the governors credit, he did say we as Texans must continue to be responsible, but to everyday person like you and me we all know that's throwing dust into the wind. once you tell someone they don't have to do something anymore, 99 percent of the time... they won't.

Look at this way, and I'll go back into the awkward sex ed classes most of us had to deal with in High School. You gotta use that protection. (if you haven had that talk, I won't spare you the details)

Masks work, and for now along with the shot that's the best protection we have. It is okay to be that business who decides not to fully open up. There is no mandate saying you have to. and as a business owner if you don't have the ability to take care of things with a ton of employees out sick you already know what I mean. But then again I understand the need to make money to pay bills. it's truly a balancing act.

Do what you want, but don't be that person who forces someone else because you want to be done with it. Is there a day I'll take my mask off? Yeah... but I want to wait until we have more folks who have what they need to not get sick. what's a few more weeks anyway?
