The Soncy Pickle Jar Has Us Asking So Many Questions
Amarillo, Take it in. There's always something new and interesting if you happen to know where to look. There's the usual suspects for strange couture here, take any Stanley Marsh III art, or perhaps the horses that adorn many businesses here across town. Maybe many of the amazing murals downtown. This item certainly isn't a tourist attraction but it does make you kind of wonder what exactly is going on.
Most of my errands here at the station involve me making trips to Home Depot or Northern Tool and Equipment so I've become intimately familiar with the intersection at Soncy and Westgate. One little interesting Item has been sitting there for a few months at least... at the southeast corner on top of a traffic light control box. In all it's glory...
A Mount Olive Pickle Jar:
Is It Art? Or Just Misplaced Junk?
Looking at the top of the utility box there's definitely some water marks where this jar has stood up to the harsh elements here in the golden spread and yet it soldiers on carrying it's half empty or perhaps half full load of pickles. Maybe that's it's sole purpose on this earth to give us a quick perspective check. Clearly it's contents have started breaking down with the sunlight and UV hitting the clear glass. A reminder that nothing is permanent here in this life. Or perhaps... it's just simply what it is. a forgotten jar of pickles left by a traveler that has yet to be picked up by the city.
